 Learning a
new language also means understanding the cultural context of
the words, a new set of cultural norms that are inexorably
intertwined with the language.
Your language training can be enhanced with Anders Languages’
Cross-Cultural Awareness program. This program is one of our
best selling corporate training programs offered by our
Mexico
City office and is now available at the Anders residence in
Cuernavaca.
The program is available in two formats:
1.
Doing business with Mexican and Latin Americans. The
objective of this program is to help foreign business men/women
or executives to understand the mind-set of the Latino business
world. This is particularly important, as million dollars in
business can get lost due to a misunderstanding of the business
climate in Latin America. For example, Latinos mix professional
and private life, making them much more sensible when doing
business. Not only will DOs and DON’Ts be discussed, but tips
and methodology to detect and adapt yourself to cultural
differences will be taught.
2. Living in Mexico. Foreigners in Mexico often
experience much higher standards of living within Mexico,
because their dollars or euros hold more purchasing power here.
Big mansions with swimming pools, great climate, housemaids,
private drivers, and weekend trips to sunny beaches are only a
few of the benefits foreigners experience in Mexico and make
them qualify Mexico as “Heaven on Earth.” However, this paradise
tends to become “Hell on Earth,” if the foreigner does not
possess the right tools to face the darker aspects of Mexico,
such as corrupt police, bureaucracy (both in private business
and government), misplaced nationalism, and lack of qualified
staff. This course will prepare the foreigner to adapt him or
herself to all aspects of the Mexican norms and culture and is
divided into three chapters:
- Social life: How to make new friends? How to integrate into
the Mexican social structure? What are the social, political and
historic facts to know about Mexico? What are the values of
Mexicans?
- Professional life: What are the variables to take into account
when doing business in Mexico? How to deal with you Mexican
workers and colleagues? How to avoid cultural shocks?
- Information: How to obtain a drivers license? How to find a
school for your kids? How to open bank accounts? How to protect
yourself from crime? Where to buy certain types of products?
What laws and regulations do you need to know?
